Introduction to the 'Managing People' course
Managing people can be incredibly rewarding if they are committed and enthusiastic about doing a good job, and incredibly frustrating if they are reluctant, resistant, and challenging.
This course shares some simple frameworks and practical approaches that can be used by managers to encourage the conditions for staff to want to do their best at work.
The course briefly explores the nature of work and paid employment, and introduces the notion of psychological as well as formal contracts. It describes the Core and Choice model as a way of explaining what good people management is really about, and shares ways to better understand and influence motivation.
