Working with Others: Understanding Difference, Enhancing Influence, Reducing Conflict
: practical self help psychology
How much do ‘people problems’ affect your life, and work? Friction? disagreements? not seeing eye to eye? And how much better would it be if you could understand and work with difference more productively
We are as different on the inside as we look different on the outside. But because we can't see the difference on the inside, many of us assume that everyone thinks roughly like me, and if they don't, they should .... because its COMMON SENSE!
Our psychology affects everything we do. As well as governing our mood, it has a massive impact on our relationships, how we get on with others (or don't) and how we communicate. And yet few of us are taught how to make the most of it.
The course explains in everyday language how our psychology and relationships works, and introduces insights, tips and techniques can be used every day (for yourself or with others) to ....
- understand people better
- improve relationships
- have more influence
- reduce conflict
- handle differences and disagreements with rapport
- be more effective interpersonally
Sharing models and techniques drawn from NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming, a practical approach to psychology and communication) and other approaches, the course help us understand how we get on with others, and what we can do to have better rapport and greater influence. Developed from over 20 years training and coaching, this is the material that has made many people say "Why has no-one told me this before?!"
Section 1 looks at how our perception works, and explains how each of us filter and make sense of the world in a unique way. Our perception determines our thinking, our thinking affects our feelings, and both affect our behaviour.
Section 2 explores the differences between people, and introduces the notion of 'preferred senses' and how this can impact on the way we get on together.
Section 3 describes where we take emotional meaning in communication, and how this understanding can be used to improve rapport, even in situations of disagreement.
Section 4 introduces some other ways that we can understand difference, and change the way we communicate in response.
Section 5 explains how our choice of words can influence others, and shares some simple ways of using words for increased influence.
Section 6 looks at how we can handle a challenging situation better, using mental rehearsal to understand and change our part in the interaction.
The course is in bite sized lessons. Content includes video sessions with supporting graphics, additional PDF material and video footage from live trainings.
If you're looking to understand others and yourself better, and learn practical strategies to improve your effectiveness and influence, this course a great starting point.

"This is an excellent programme. You will be hearing great tips and using some of the practical exercises within minutes of starting the programme. Chris has an engaging style and gets across the fundamentals of NLP in a helpful and practical way. He also makes you feel part of the programme. The use of practical examples and animations helps to reinforce the learning. I work as a coach and Organisational Development Consultant and can see the benefits of using this short programme to complement change programmes within organisations. I can also see the benefit of using it as a foundation for learning in management and leadership training as an introduction to practical psychology, and to encourage individuals to improve their emotional intelligence. Thanks Chris an excellent programme." Phil B.
“If you’re a line manager, HR or a parent you need to see and hear most of this. Not only will it change the way you look at people but it will also help change the way you look at yourself. Thanks Chris for putting this together and giving me the chance to make big changes. I was just blown away with the content”
