Does some people's behaviour drive you spare?

We are as different on the inside as we look different on the outside, yet because we can't see the difference on the inside, many of us assume that everyone thinks roughly like me, and if they don't ..... they should. Because my way of thinking is ..... well, its common sense!

Once we have ways of understanding that difference on the inside, it becomes less puzzling and irritating, and gives us ways we can adjust what we say to get better results from others.

One of the (many) ways we are different is the extent to which we are Externally or Internally referenced. This extract explains the pattern, and includes ways of influencing people who are internally referenced.

For more ways to understand other people, influence them, improve rapport, and handle disagreements better, visit the Working with Others course information page.
